How was WorthaShot created?

The very first version of WorthaShot was created in a timespan of just a few hours.

In Octobre of 2020, a guy named Ruben came up with the idea whilst bringing his brother to soccer. It just so happened to be that his friends were coming over later that night and he wanted to be able to play a new kind of drinking game. There weren't many drinking games out there that were truely enjoyable, so he just decided to create his own drinking game.

What was the first version of WorthaShot?

The very first version of WorthaShot (called 'Count your Drinks' before) was a drinking game where the concept of the game was based on FizzBuzz. Every player has a turn to execute a mathematical operation on a number (+1, /2 or *3), whatever new number comes out of the operation could have a drinking penalty bound to it.

However, you don't know what the number is, the number is kept secret throughout the game. Although, a number is shown to the end users, but this number has an offset of 5, meaning that if the actual number is 20, you would see a number between 15 and 25. The reason for this rule is so that players don't know (for sure) what the result will be of their mathematical operation.

What were the forbidden numbers?

A lot of so-called 'meme' numbers (like 69, 420, 1337) had drinking penalties bound to them, also multiples of 3, 5, 13, 69, 420 as well. Every prime number was also a drinking penalty.

Nevertheless, this didn't present enough content for the game, so historical dates were added to the game, which inspired the Timeline Travels to be created.

What was good about the first version of WorthaShot?

The first version was super easy to understand for all players involved, yet could have lots of different outputs depending on the number that was calculated. It also gave the end user a feeling of controlling the game by being able to choose the mathematical operation.

What was bad bout the first version of WorthaShot?

Although there were quite some upsides to the game, it soon become clear (after playing some time) that the number would be too high to reach different drinking penalties, causing it to become boring.
